Hi Ruth, I'm Ruth, too! I encountered your site as I began researching a blog-revamp for myself. I'm so happy to come across your work here. Thank you! This is one of my favorite poems. For years, the lines you've excerpted resonated for me. And lately, as I've begun photographing gutters (don't ask!) it's this part that speaks to me: "Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting — over and over announcing your place in the family of things."
I love this quote. I need a reminder sometimes to not be so hard on myself.
